Study Abroad
Recognition of Examination Credits
If you would like to conclude a Learning Agreement for your study abroad program, please obtain the appropriate form (available on the website of the Office of International Relations) and complete it as far as possible. The next steps depend on whether learning agreements have already been drawn up in the past for the overseas courses you are considering. You can find a current overview here (although the existence of a learning agreement does not mean that it automatically applies to the current courses).
If the course you wish to take is on the list, please submit your completed Learning Agreement, together with a description of the course you intend to take (syllabus, reading list, time commitment, number of ECTS credits), to the department secretariat. Please include your email address so that we can contact you should we have any queries and to notify you once Prof. Schnabel has signed the agreement.
If the course you wish to take is not (or not clearly) on the list, or if further clarification is required, please arrange an appointment with the department secretary during Prof. Schnabel’s office hours. Please bring your (partially completed) Learning Agreement with you, along with all available information about the course you wish to take (i.e. syllabus, reading list, time commitment, number of ECTS credits).
Please note: When deciding whether to recognise a course, we take into account the academic level and duration of the course taken abroad, as well as the extent to which its content corresponds to one of our courses. You are responsible for ensuring that the recognised course is compatible with the examination regulations of your degree programme or the requirements of your department.
Upon your return from abroad, please contact your programme coordinator, who will process the recognition of all your examination results based on the transcripts and recognition lists you provide. Since February 2010, this recognition process has no longer been handled by the individual departments that concluded the respective Learning Agreements, but is now managed centrally by the coordinators of the individual degree programmes.
